Hey gang, looking to totally transform your ride? Our recent Mazda CX-5 project is proof that a small change can make a HUGE impact! This quick, DIY installation of a sleek front LED light instantly elevates your CX 5 from great to absolutely captivating. Get ready to give your CX5 that modern, head-turning glow you’ve been craving and see how this simple upgrade truly redefines your Mazda’s front-end aesthetics.

1. Locate the Fuse Box:
Start by locating the fuse box under the hood of your car. This is usually found near the engine compartment. Remove the top cover of the fuse box and turn it over to locate the ACC relay.
2. Remove the ACC Relay:
Currently, mine is done this way: Gently but firmly pull out the ACC relay from its seat on the relay board. I’m planning to use fuse taps and will update this section after.

3. Connect the Red Wire:
Wrap the red wire from the LED light around the right-most prong on the relay. This prong does not have constant power, ensuring that the light only operates when the car is in use. Make sure the wire is not touching any other prongs and firmly seat the relay back into its correct position.

4. Ground the Black Wire:
Ground the black wire of the LED light by attaching it to the bolt screw just above the driver’s side headlight. Loosen the bolt enough to wrap the wire around it, then tighten it securely. You can use electrical tape to cover the exposed wire, other more extreme measures, especially if you’re in an area prone to rodent damage.

5. Attach the Light:
The front LED light comes with double-sided tape for easy attachment. You can place it under the hood in various locations, but attaching it to the underside of the upper hood bonnet is recommended for better visibility. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol to promote adhesion. If you have a heat gun or hair dryer, heat the light strip a bit. I have found that using heat before sticking 3m-type tapes to surfaces helps in keeping it place more securely. Ensure the tape adheres well, especially if your bonnet is not wrapped in vinyl.
6. Test the Light:
Once the installation is complete, test the front LED light to ensure it only comes on when the car is in ACC mode or when the engine is running.
Pros and cons of the light: The front light is bright and visible both day and night, giving your car a modern vibe. I’ve had mine for almost a year or so now and it’s been reliable, but some people have reported issues with durability. Overall, it is what it is, a cost-effective upgrade to enhance the look of your CX-5.
